On World Mental Health Day 2017, SECE Mind teamed up with three tattoo shops – Elite Ink, Tooth & Claw and Oliver J Tattoos, to raise money for a worthwhile cause.
The tattoo artists worked tirelessly to provide brave volunteers with semi colon tattoos, an idea taken from the semi-colon project. Together, we raised an incredible £4,924.57.
This impressive amount will help towards providing more support and outreach for the people in Southend and other local communities, including Chelmsford, South Woodham Ferrers, Castle Point, Rayleigh and Rochford, who are suffering with anxiety, depression and other forms of mental illness. It also allows us to keep our services at the Jubilee Centre running, which includes counselling and IES.
Overall the day was an immense success, and it is down to the generosity of the staff and clients that we were able to raise such an impressive amount, and most importantly awareness of mental health within our community.
Fundraising assistant, Maria Shirlin says "We are absolutely thrilled that we have had yet another successful semi colon tattoo project. This year the amount raised by the three shops was huge. Thank you to all the talented staff at the shops, and to all the people who made this day special".
