Trauma project a year on…

SECE Mind are able to offer a pathway to recover for those that have experienced a traumatic event in their lives. Our trauma program, funded by the Big lottery fund is a free service that assesses your needs and offers a range of services from:

  • One to one support work

  • Psychoeducational group sessions

  • Counselling and/or group therapy

  • Therapeutic groups

  • Peer support groups

We recently had our end of year reporting meeting with The Big Lottery fund, and were pleased to report that everything is going according to plan. Distressing or frightening events can result in flashbacks, nightmares and result in the disorder, PTSD. The effects of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder can be severe enough to stop someone from being able to cope on a day-to-day basis. Our trauma program can provide support and further information, and make significant improvements to a persons daily functioning. Our chief officer, Ken Sanderson, says “our trauma program has been a great success so far and is giving people back the opportunity to feel more at ease in their everyday life, which is very important, we are glad that we can offer this valuable help within the community” We are pleased to say that we will continue to have funding for this project until 2020.
