‘A Game For Barks’ Memorial Match Fundraiser

A match to remember former Southend United captain Chris Barker is being held at Roots Hall on Saturday 28 May at 3pm. Barker tragically died by suicide at the start of 2020.

‘A Game For Barks’ will be a match between Barker’s former Southend side and a side made of his former team-mates from other clubs. All profits are kindly being donated to our charity.

Donations from this event will be used to help fund our new ‘Somewhere To Turn’ service, which is a free early intervention service open to anyone 18+ looking for mental health and wellbeing support.

Tickets, which are priced at £5 adults and £1 concessions, are available from the Shrimpers Trust website here and in the Shrimpers Bar ahead of every remaining home match this season.

Those already hoping to be in attendance include Rhys Evans, Daniel Bentley, Glenn Morris, Cameron Belford, Peter Gilbert, Johnny Herd, Mark Phillips, Lee Sawyer, Ryan Cresswell, Gavin Tomlin, Ryan Leonard, Anthony Straker, David Martin, Barry Corr, Liam Dickinson, Bilel Mohsni, Christian Dailly, Harry Crawford and Alex Woodyard.

Thank you to everyone involved in this important game, and a special thank you to our Charity Trustee Chris Phillips for his tireless efforts in helping organise this event.
