SECE Mind has partnered with the University of Essex to provide students with lectures on the topic of mental health. Services Manager, Georgina Beadon recently delivered a lecture to first year social work students on the ‘toxic trio’ of mental illness, domestic abuse and substance misuse . The aim of this was to provide the students with a professional perspective on the treatment of these issues.
The lectures proved to be a resounding success and the students were keen to learn about the practical applications of what they had learned in class. It is vital to always remember that therapy revolves entirely around individuals and their unique needs. This is why the most vital tool in any treatment is the ability to listen to the person in front of you and to offer them an empathetic ear. We look forward to the continued success of this partnership.
