Our Mission, Aims and Values
Our mission is to ensure everyone susceptible to or experiencing mental health issues is given all the help, support and guidance needed to enable them to cope more easily and effectively and to intervene as early as possible to ease the situation for those people and their families.
Our aims are to:
To change outcomes for those we work with.
To help more people.
To become more organisationally effective.
Upholding our values are paramount to us. We will always operate in a professional and non-judgemental way in order to minimise stigma and fear of mental ill health. We will always respect others and not discriminate based on race, creed, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, birth or other status, disability, age, marital and family status, sexual orientation, gender identity, health status, place of residence, economic or social factors. We will be compassionate towards everyone we come into contact with and will deliver our services with honesty, professionalism and accountability within a framework of a sustainable business model.
Last year, 36 people accessed our community housing project and 21 tenants stayed in our supported housing. We currently have three properties and offer 22 beds spaces to the residents of South Essex.
Last year SECE Mind had the following outputs:
139 people received counselling
170 new people entered our trauma project
323 people accessed our Somewhere To Turn service.
We visit local partnerships, schools and community groups on a regular basis and raise awareness to reduce the stigma towards mental health in the community
We deliver a wide range of free and fee-based mental health courses. Last year, we trained 110 public delegates at our Jubilee centre and over 650 delegates in schools and businesses in Essex.
Being a self-funded charity, we do lots of great fundraising activities in the community each year. From parachute jumping to mandala stone painting, we do it all to keep our services running.
We started in 1966 helping the residents of Southend. In 2012, we merged with Chelmsford Mind to become South East and Central Essex Mind. We also cover Castlepoint and Rochford and Shoeburyness.
We are a registered charity with the UK Charity Commission and also a Company Limited by Guarantee. We have our financial accounts audited each year and are regulated by the Fundraising Authority.
We have a Board of Trustees who ensured we are governed well. They do this by regular board meetings and using dedicated sub-committees who work directly with the Senior Management Team.
