On Monday 10th and Tuesday 11th October 2016 various tattoo shops will be opening their doors to brave volunteers to get tattoos to raise awareness of mental health and showcase the vital services South East and Central Essex Mind offer the area.
The “Semi-colon Project” is a movement which has become wide-spread, with the semi-colon becoming more and more recognisable as a symbol for overcoming issues surrounding mental health. The idea is that you are the author of your life, and instead of choosing to end your sentence/life with a full stop/end, you choose to continue, therefore putting a semi-colon instead of a full stop.
The tattoo artists will be offering semi-colon tattoos at a rate of £30, with proceeds going to South East and Central Essex Mind. Shops leading the movement are Elite Ink, Tooth and Claw and Lady Pirates.
Volunteers interested in participating are urged to contact their preferred tattoo shop and get booked in. Anyone who wants to donate, rather than get a tattoo are encouraged to contact South East and Central Essex Mind directly on 01702 601123.
