We are proud to announce that our PTSD project has been shortlisted by the National Lottery Good Causes Awards based on our continued work with people dealing with the lasting mental effects of trauma. The PTSD project has been funded by the Big Lottery Fund and has helped countless people to reclaim their lives and begin to rebuild.
The Awards recognise the incredible difference that Lottery-funded projects have made to people, places and communities all across the UK and the PTSD project was included amongst 98 nominated charities, which has since been narrowed down to 14, with the 7 finalists set to be announced on May 19th. Services Manager, Georgina Beadon had this to say about the project’s success:“
While it is an incredible honour to be nominated for this award the truest sense of achievement comes from seeing all the people we have been able to support in the last 5 years. PTSD is most commonly associated with veterans but it can affect anyone, from victims of domestic abuse to those who have been seriously injured in car crashes. The mental scars last long after the physical ones have healed but thanks to the Big Lottery we have been able to make a difference.”
