Counselling Self-Referral

If you are in need of a confidential and non-judgemental space to talk about your mental well being, for whatever reasons, consider visiting our Individual Support Page, where you are able to refer yourself to our counselling service.


Counselling, often known as 'talking therapy', provides skilled listening in a safe and confidential environment. Our Counselling Services offer a safe and confidential place to help people have their thoughts heard in sensitive and non-judgemental way.


Counselling can help if you are experiencing:

  • Anxiety issues and Generalised Anxiety Disorder

  • Depression

  • Confidence and Self-Esteem issues

  • Bereavement

  • Pre, Peri and Post-natal depression

  • Anger management issues

  • Phobias

  • Relationship problems (Please note we do not offer couples counselling)

  • Work-related Stress

  • Issues linked to identifying as LGBTQ+

  • A clinically-diagnosed mental health condition such as Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia and Personality Disorders.

  • Self-harm

  • Recovery from substance misuse issues

  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

  • Eating Disorders

We offer counselling as well as psychotherapy with qualified and experienced counsellors who within the ethical framework of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. Our team are trained in a range of approaches and methods, including:

- Cognitive Behavioural Psychology (CBT)

- Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy

- Person-Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy

- Psychodynamic

- Transactional Analysis (TA)

You do not need to have talked to your GP before completing a self-referral. We offer 'short-term' counselling tailored to your needs and all counselling fees are calculated on a sliding scale according to income.


Our Counselling Service is primarily delivered in our Jubilee Centre in Southend, but during current Lockdown restrictions we are also offering remote counselling services. Counselling can also be offered to businesses and organisation remotely or in-house if the right setting is available.
