Peer Support Service
South East and Central Essex Mind are pleased to be in partnership with Southend Borough Council to offer a Peer Support Service.
Through our Peer Support Service we have established a group of trained peer volunteers, all who have lived experience of mental health. Their role is to assist other service users to develop their recovery plans and to support them in managing their own mental health and care. Working towards improving their quality of life, confidence and self-esteem to enable them to make a positive contribution and feel part of their own community.
Using the Recovery Star our Peer Support Service has a strong focus on choice, recovery, positive role model and personalisation that will enable people to build their lives for themselves outside of mental health services, with an emphasis on hope, control and opportunity.
The four principles of assessment, support planning, a key worker and reviewing are the cornerstone of the Care Programme Approach. Implicit in all of these is the involvement of the person using the service and where appropriate their carer.
This is a non-clinical Peer Support service and is only available to individuals who live within the borough of Southend.
