Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Adjustment Disorder (AD)

Referral Criteria
For counselling to be effective for PTSD and AD, individuals need to have experienced and gone through the initial shock symptoms of the trauma.
Therefore this service will accept referrals when a client has more than one of the following symptoms for more than 8 weeks.

Flashback and Nightmares

Avoidance and Numbing
-
Being 'on guard' (hypervigilance)

Survivors guilt
-
Depression and Anxiety
-
Grief-stricken
-
Anger
-
Physical symptoms(muscle aching, diarrhoea, headaches, *irregular heartbeat)
*Symptoms must have been assessed by GP and a medical cause ruled out.
Service Provision
This service is open to all individuals experiencing symptoms of PTSD/AD aged 18 years and above. The service is available to anyone, but they must be willing to travel to locations in South East Essex where the service is delivered.
Number of Sessions
Clients will have 12 sessions in total.

Review (session 5)

Discharge (session 12)
However, if at the review session it is felt by both client and therapist that more sessions are required, the counsellor may request an extension of sessions from the Project Manager.
