South East and Central Essex Mind believe strongly in the power of the support which can be delivered through Peer Support.
Receiving Peer Support leads to increased self-esteem and self-confidence, a sense of belonging, and motivation to learn new skills. For many, being part of a user group provides a safety net. Some have even used peer support to overcome problems that traditional services have not helped with.
Our Peer Support Service aims to offer a support service to people with mental ill-health through Peer Supporters that have lived with mental ill-health. The Peer Supporters share their knowledge and experience of services and inspire service users into understanding that mental ill-health doesn't have to have an impact on their quality of life and they can recover with the best support available.
